Indian anti-graft activist ends 13-day fast

An Indian activist, Anna Hazare who commenced a hunger strike 13 days ago to demand Anti-Corruption measures from the Indian Parliament, finally ended the hunger strike on Sunday the 28th of August, exactly on the 13th day amidst cheers by the public following his very igniting speach.

The arrest of an American man who broke into a woman's house and tried to suck her blood over the weekend has sparked discussion about the impact of vampire books and movies on youth culture...Yahoonews.


The man in question, is 19-year -old Lyle Monroe Bensley . Experts say fictional novels and and 'the sexy beyond death' vampire characters in modern day movies may have played a role in this case and  other life vampire attack incidences.

Nigeria Launches NigeriaSat-1, X In Orbit











Nigeria yesterday, successfully, launched one of the most advanced earth observation satellites (Nigeriasat-2) of its kind that is commercially available in the imaging world into the orbit at exactly 8:12.am Nigerian time in Russia.

Nigeria Sat-X, which was built by Nigerian engineers trained at the same time the Sat-2 was being built as a demonstration that Nigeria can build and launch its satellite was launched alongside NigeriaSat-2.
With the launch of the two satellites, NigeriaSa-1, which has since overstayed its life span in orbit would be replaced...

Just to Say Kudos to the Nigerian Police

A suicide bomber's mission turned awry yesterday, when he ended up dead after a failed attempt to bomb the police headquarters in Borno, Maidugiri. He was gunned down by the police men on guard after crashing his bomb ladden salon car into the Police headquaters  knocking down some police men in the process. He was suspected to be a member of the Boko Haram sect in the state.


I say Kudos NPF.

Question! If they were more prepared than this, could we have withstood them? Nigerians are asking.

Two men face murder charges over deaths during British riots.

Two men appeared briefly in court Sunday, police in Birmingham said, charged with murder over the hit-and-run deaths of three men during riots that roiled Britain last week.


The two, ages 26 and 17, were ordered to appear in Birmingham Crown Court on Monday.Police in London, meanwhile, announced they had arrested 1,401 people over violence, disorder and looting since riots broke out just over a week ago. The Nigeria Police says the 164 people arrested during last month's sectarian crisis in Jos, may be charged to court later this week. According to the police, 41 of the suspects will be charged with murder...Source The Nigerian voice

More damning revelations emerged Friday  at the  public hearing on the privatisation of government-owned companies carried out by the Bureau of Public Enterprises.
The Minister of Steel Development, Alhaji Musa Mohammed Sada, told the Senate ad-hoc committee behind the investigation that the Federal Govern-ment still spends N3.6 billion annually on the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited even though it has been moribund for several years.
He said the money, which is broken down to N300 million per month, is use to pay staff salaries.
